At the invitation of the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development, we were honored to participate in the National Workshop to Validate the Action Plan Against Plastic Pollution, which was held in Nouakchott from September 30 to October 2, 2025.
This workshop, which brought together public administration, local authorities, civil society, the private sector, and several national NGOs, provided a forum for fruitful and constructive discussion.
Thanks to the diversity of stakeholders present and the richness of the contributions, the discussions highlighted the magnitude of a global challenge: plastic pollution.
In Mauritania, this phenomenon particularly affects coastal and littoral areas, endangering biodiversity, artisanal fishing activities, and the living conditions of local populations.
The workshop also provided an opportunity to share national strategies and concrete measures aimed at reducing the impact of plastic waste on ecosystems, human health, and the country’s economy.
We welcome the commitment of all stakeholders involved in the implementation of the National Action Plan and reaffirm our commitment to contributing, through our initiatives, to the preservation of the environment and the promotion of sustainable development in Mauritania.
