NAFORE at the IUCN World Conservation Congress in Abu Dhabi

Like other IUCN members and commissions, NAFORE proudly represents the voice of Mauritanian civil society at the IUCN World Conservation Congress, currently taking place in Abu Dhabi.
During the first three days of the congress, our delegation actively advocated for conservation and sustainable development with several international foundations and partners, including The Nature Conservancy (TNC), World Land Trust, Nuakube Foundation, KBA, and UN Environment.
We also accompanied the Mauritanian ministerial delegation during its meeting with the Egyptian delegation and supported several motions put forward by partners, including France (motion 032) and Stop Ecocide International (motion 061).
Because the issue of conservation financing remains crucial for the Global South, we actively participated in the plenary sessions and high-level panels devoted to this topic. Fruitful discussions also took place with bilateral cooperation programs, particularly German ones, to explore opportunities for collaboration and support for Mauritanian civil society.
Our participation in this conference is made even more meaningful thanks to our partnership with the PRCM, which supports us in this regional initiative. NAFORE reaffirms its commitment to strengthening its presence and impact within the large IUCN family, for a greener and more resilient Mauritania.
