On Thursday, October 22, 2026, the Nouakchott Coastal Development Company (SALN) and the NAFORE Association for Environmental Protection carried out a coastal cleanup in the Sebkha district, behind the dune ridge, near the gendarmerie building.
Organized as part of an environmental education project—in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and in support of the national coastal cleanup program—this initiative helped clean the beach while raising awareness among young students from school clubs and parent associations, engaging them in a concrete, hands-on activity.
The event brought together teams from SALN and the NAFORE Association, the Sebkha municipality, school clubs from the Warf school in El Mina and the Mokhtar Sakho school in Sebkha, their principals, as well as representatives from parent associations and SASA PLAST. The latter supported the initiative by facilitating awareness-raising, waste sorting, and the collection of plastic waste for recycling.
🎥 A look back at this collective effort for the sake of our coastline.
Thank you to everyone involved in this initiative. Together, let’s pass on sustainable habits to the younger generation to help them preserve their living environment.
