On Monday, December 23, 2024, the Naforé Association for Environmental Protection attended a workshop for the restitution and validation of the National Action Plan for Marine Turtle Conservation that was organized. With its 750 km of coastline, Mauritania hosts nesting sites for five species of marine turtles present on the West African coast, highlighting the importance of its role in the conservation of these species. This plan, designed by the Banc d’Arguin National Park (PNBA), the largest Marine Protected Area in West Africa, recognized by scientists as a key habitat for marine turtles, aims to strengthen the protection efforts for these threatened species listed on the red list of endangered species.
