A look back at the International Counting of Water Birds at the Banc d’Arguin National Park (PNBA), an important initiative to protect birds and preserve wetlands.
Located between the Atlantic Ocean and the Sahara Desert, the PNBA is one of the richest ecosystems in Mauritania. Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is home to many migratory birds and essential seagrass beds for marine life.
With the participation of the Naforé Association, this census reflects a strong commitment to the protection of waterbirds, which play a key role in the balance of nature.
In addition to counting species and studying their populations, this initiative raises awareness among local communities about the importance of wetlands and encourages management where humans and nature live in harmony.
Through this project, the NAFORE Association and its partners actively participate in the protection of the PNBA, a natural site precious for biodiversity.
